  • November 7th : Princess Abe, who ruled from 749 to 758 under the name Kōken and has since spent her time as a Buddhist nun in the Nara monastery Hokke-ji under the religious name Takano Tennō , is again named Tennō of Japan under the name Shōtoku , but without giving up their Buddhist vows. She deposed her successor Junnin and sent him into exile in Awaji . Her uncle Fujiwara no Nakamaro instigates a rebellion against the new old Tennō, but succumbs after a short time.
