  • at 77: The first ten volumes of the encyclopedia Naturalis historia by Pliny the Elder are published. In it, Pliny arranges traditional scientific knowledge of Greek authors such as Aristotle , Theophrastus of Eresus and Hippocrates of Kos directly from manuscripts and relates this to new knowledge. The encyclopedia deals with the subjects of cosmography, geography and climatology, anthropology and zoology.
