- April 15 : After a year-long siege, the Roman Legio X Fretensis under Lucius Flavius Silva Nonius Bassus takes the Jewish rock fortress Masada, defended by 973 Zealots under the leadership of Eleazar ben Ja'ir , and thus ends the Jewish war . For only seven survivors, two women and five children, all others have suicide committed or have been killed by their families.
