Meanings and connections

  • 73 is an operational abbreviation for "Greetings" in the amateur radio service , which has its origins in its use as an operational abbreviation in telegraphy .
  • Every natural number can be written as the sum of a maximum of 73 powers of order 6, see Waring's problem .
  • 73 is the favorite number of Sheldon Lee Cooper from the series The Big Bang Theory . He justifies it in the (73rd) episode The Animal Amy as follows: The 73 is the 21st prime number, its mirror number - the 37 - is the 12th prime number. Its mirror number in turn - 21 - is the product of the multiplication of 7 and 3. It could be shown mathematically that 73 is actually the only number ("Sheldon Prime ") with these properties. In addition, 73 is a binary palindrome of numbers , since it is 1001001 written forwards and backwards. The Morse code is also mirror-symmetrical or point-symmetrical and can probably still be perceived as symmetry.
