Roman Empire
- July 3 : The Roman Emperor Constantine the Great defeats his co-emperor Licinius in the Battle of Adrianople , who then flees to Byzantium , today's Istanbul , and there appoints Martinianus as co-emperor. In the same month there was the sea battle at Kallipolis , which Constantine's son Caesar Crispus successfully fought against Amandus .
- September 18 : Emperor Constantine triumphs over Licinius in the battle of Chrysopolis near Byzantium and thereby becomes sole ruler of the Roman Empire. The final dissolution of the Roman tetrarchy is thus sealed, Licinius and his son Licinianus Licinius are interned in Thessaloniki. Martinianus is captured separately from the two and arrested in Cappadocia. Konstantin undertakes on oath to protect her life.
- 8 or November 13 Konstantin appoints his son Constantius to Caesar .
