Events
Gaius Calpurnius Piso and Marcus Vettius Bolanus are Roman consuls .
Pliny the Younger , formerly responsible for the state treasury, is appointed extraordinary governor of the province of Bithynia and Pontus by Emperor Trajan and given special powers. Until then, the administration of this province was in the hands of the Senate, which installed proconsuls there every year, following the pattern of the republican era. Abuses have recently occurred more frequently. Pliny arrives in the province on September 17th .
