  • Establishment of the Empire of the Gök Turks under Bumın Kagan , after he defeated the Rouran and was declared ruler of all the Turkish-Mongolian peoples of eastern Central Asia by a Kuriltai (assembly of princes). He dies in the same year (probably murdered by his brother Istämi), so that the empire is divided between Istämi Shad and Sekin Shad.
  • 552 or 547 : Campaign of the Yemeni ruler Abraha to Mecca .
