- 580 : Last mention of the Roman Senate .
- 581 : The Chinese general Yang Jiang , who overthrew the northern Qi dynasty on behalf of the northern Zhou dynasty in 577 , eliminated the heirs of the last emperor of the Zhou dynasty after the death of 580 and established the Sui dynasty himself . As emperor he calls himself Wen Di. This ends the time of the Southern and Northern Dynasties .
- October 23, 585 : The Synod of Mâcon resolves to pay a " tithe " for the Frankish Empire , a regular payment in kind of 10% of agricultural yields. In the Middle Ages it became the most profitable tax source .
- 589 : In Spain , at the 3rd Synod of Toledo, the Credo with the addition of Filioque is included in the Mass liturgy .
