- October 23 : The Synod of Mâcon decides to pay a “ tithe ” for the Frankish Empire , a regular payment in kind of 10% of agricultural yields. In the Middle Ages it became the most profitable tax source . At the same synod, King Guntram I dismissed several of the 43 bishops present because of political opposition.
- Leovigild , King of the Visigoths , subjugates the Suebi Empire in the north of what is now Portugal .
