Politics and world events
- Restauratio imperii : The Gothic War of the Eastern Roman Empire against the Ostrogoths in Italy leads to famine and devastation; Milan , which was conquered by Eastern Roman troops, is recaptured by the Ostrogoths after a bitter struggle. Emperor Justinian I sent his general Narses to Italy, but he was in conflict with the Belisarius who was already thereand was recalled. The Ostrogoths had tobreak offthe siege of Rome in March after a year, on the Adriatic the Eastern Romans penetrated from the south to Rimini .
