The European Ice Hockey Cup in the 1976/77 season was the twelfth edition of the competition of the same name by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF . The competition began in October 1976; the final was played in December 1978 and February 1979. A total of 16 teams took part. The TJ Sokol Kladno won the title for the first time.

Mode and participants

The national champions of the game year 1975/76 of the European members of the IIHF were qualified for the competition. The competition was played in the knockout system in a two-legged manner.
