Frisk Asker (also IF Frisk Asker Ishockey ) is an ice hockey club from the Norwegian Asker , which currently plays in the GET-leagues . Their home games are played in the Askerhallen . The club colors are green, red and white.

history

The ice hockey department of IF Frisk was founded on February 5, 1922, making it one of Norway's oldest ice hockey clubs. Until the late 1960s, the club played continuously in the lower regional leagues. The upswing only came with the investment by Bjørn Mortensen, who gave IF Frisk a new home. He had an ice rink built, which was a big step forward as the club usually played on natural ice rinks.

In 1969 the Askerhalle was completed, which created the infrastructure for big things, but there was a lack of sporting class. So the club decided to merge with the ice hockey club IK Tigrene from Oslo for the new season , which was experiencing the opposite problem, namely poor infrastructure, but many good players. With this clever move, Frisk Asker made it into the Norwegian elite in just a few years. In 1970 the team celebrated their first success and became runner-up, just as they did in 1972. In the same year, the club also suffered a serious setback when the Askerhalle was badly damaged by fire. But again it was the sympathizer Mortensen who rebuilt the hall. The new Askerhalle was opened in 1973. After the runner-up again in 1974, the big coup with the championship came about for the first time in 1975. In 1979, the team celebrated their second championship, making the 1970s the best years for Frisk Asker.

In the 1980s, the Tigers also played in the first division ice hockey, but they couldn't match the great successes of previous years. Only one runner-up came out in 1986. After turbulent years with financial problems and a merger with the local ice hockey club Holmen , the club had to go down under the new name Asker Hockey . In 1995 the club managed to return to the top league under the new name IF Frisk Asker after ending the unproductive cooperation with Holmen. Thanks to the great support of the city of Asker and the numerous fans, the team was able to quickly establish itself at the top again and celebrated the third championship in 2002. The fourth success was celebrated in 2019.
