The European Ice Hockey Cup in the 1991 season was the 27th edition of the competition of the same name by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF . The competition began in October 1991; the final was played in December 1991. A total of 18 teams took part. Djurgårdens IF Stockholm won the title for the second time in a row.
Mode and participants
The national champions of the game year 1990/91 of the European members of the IIHF were qualified for the competition. The competition was played with a preliminary round in three groups of three in a simple mode. Then the best six of these preliminary round teams and six pre-qualified teams in three groups of four played the six participants of the final tournament. In this, the best teams of two groups of three played the places crosswise.

Preliminary round
The preliminary round of the European Cup was played in three groups from 11th to 13th October 1991. The first two of the group reached the final round.

Group C games were played in Milan , Italy . Rouen is only French runner-up, but takes part in the European Cup instead of the master Grenoble, who was in liquidation.
