Career
Charles Berglund began his career as a hockey player at Huddinge IK , for whose professional team he was active from 1984 to 1986 in the second-rate Division 1 . The attacker then moved to their league rivals Nacka HK for a year before he received a contract with Djurgårdens IF from the Elitserien before the 1987/88 season . In the following eight years, the left-handed shooter and his team won the European Cup twice ( 1990/91 and 1991/92 ) and the Swedish championship three times in a row (1989, 1990 and 1991). He was also runner-up with the capital city in the 1991/92 season.
In the summer of 1995 Berglund signed with the EHC Kloten from the Swiss National League A , with which he won the national championship straight away in 1995/96 . After another season with the Confederates, the center returned to Djurgårdens IF in 1997, with whom he was again runner-up in the 1997/98 season, as well as champions in 2000 and 2001. After winning the championship in the 2000/01 season, he ended his active career.
Following his career as a player, Berglund took over the position of head coach at the lower class club Väsby IK Hockey for the 2004/05 season , before he worked as an assistant coach at his ex-club Djurgårdens IF from 2005 to 2007. From the 2007/08 season , the 1994 Olympic champion was employed as head coach at Timrå IK in the Elitserien. During the 2010/11 season he was on the gang at MODO Hockey . In April 2011 he was dismissed by General Manager Markus Näslund after the desired season target was clearly missed and the league was only achieved in the Kvalserien .
