The HC Levski Sofia is the hockey department of the Bulgarian sports club Levski Sofia in Sofia that the Bulgarian Hockey League belongs. The venue for HK Levski Sofia is the Sofia Winter Sports Palace .

history

The club was founded in 1953 as HK Dinamo Sofia . After six years it was first renamed HK Levski Sofia before the club merged with Spartak Sofia to Spartak-Levski Sofia in 1969 . The team created by the merger then dominated ice hockey in Bulgaria from the mid-1970s to the early 1980s and was Bulgarian champions six times in a row between 1976 and 1982 . Since 1990 the team has been playing again under its previous name HK Levski Sofia , was able to build on previous successes and was champion four times in the 1990s, and most recently in 2003. With a total of twelve championships, Levski is after HK Slavia Sofia (18 titles) and the HK CSKA Sofia (13 titles), the third most successful team in the country. Levski also won the national cup 17 times (most recently in 2005). After the 2012/13 season , the club withdrew from the league for financial reasons.
