- After the death of Agathocles , Hiketas takes control of Syracuse . Some of the Mamertines , mercenaries in the service of Agathocles, move to Messina after his death , where they quickly gain influence.
- Pyrrhos I of Epirus defeats Pantauchos, the general of the Macedonian king Demetrios I Poliorketes , with Pyrrhus taking 5,000 prisoners. Then Pyrrhus advanced to Edessa , but was then driven out of Macedonia again.
