- Ptolemy I Soter, King of Egypt , abdicates in favor of his son and fellow king Ptolemy II Philadelphos. He marries Arsinoë I , a daughter of the Thracian king Lysimachus . Ptolemy II's elder brother, Ptolemy Keraunos , flees Egypt to Lysimachus.
- Lysimachus expels Pyrrhus I from Macedonia and makes himself the sole ruler there.
