Eastern Mediterranean
- Demetrios I Poliorketes , formerly King of Macedonia , dies in Seleucid captivity. Demetrios' son Antigonos II. Gonatas continues the tradition of the Antigonids, but has to bury his father in Demetrias , since Macedonia is occupied by Lysimachus .
Western Mediterranean
- The Romans established the Castrum Novum colony (today: Giulianova) near Hadria .
- 283/282 BC BC : The Romans defeat the Etruscans and the Gauls ( Senones and Boier ) in the battle of Lake Vadimon . They then occupy the Senonian area and found the colony Sena Gallica .
