- A Roman embassy under Consul Fabius Maximus Gurges travels to Ptolemy II to establish diplomatic relations with Egypt .
- The Etruscan city of Caere makes peace with the Romans.
- Rome established Latin colonies in Paestum and in the Etrurian city of Cosa . Elea also joins the Romans.
- Pyrrhos I of Epiros contests Antigonus II Gonatas for the Macedonian throne and invades Macedonia. Pyrrhus succeeds in taking Aigai; Antigonus is forced to flee.
- Pyrrhus calls his son Ptolemy, who had stayed in Taranto , to Greece . The Tarentines are now finally on their own in the fight against the Romans.
