Pyrrhic war
- King Pyrrhos I of Epirus invades the Peloponnese, where he first intervenes in disputes in Sparta , but is repulsed at the gates of the city. He then turns to Argos , where there had also been internal disputes. Pyrrhus dies in street fighting in Argos, allegedly by a woman throwing a stone . Alexander II succeeded him in Epirus .
- A Carthaginian fleet sails into the Bay of Taranto .
