- Beginning of the First Syrian War (until 271 BC ) between Egypt under Ptolemy II and the Seleucid Empire under Antiochus I. Ptolemy marches into the Seleucid part of Syria . Magas of Cyrene allies with the Seleucid Empire, but has to break off an attack on Egypt when Cyrene is threatened by the nomadic Marmarids.
