Stone throwing or stone throwing is an old Germanic sport, which nowadays z. B. is still practiced at the highland games or the Otterndorfer Germanic pentathlon . The aim is to throw a standardized stone as far as possible.

Stone's throw was carried out as an Olympic discipline in 1906. In senior athletics, stone throwing is still a discipline at world championships and is the fifth discipline in addition to the shot put , discus throw , hammer throw and javelin throw in throwing pentathlon (sometimes also referred to as throwing all-around or similar). The weight of the stone decreases with the age of the thrower.
