  • Philip II of Macedonia wins the island of Thasos . He also besieged both Perinthus and Byzantion .
  • For the duration of a campaign, Philip II entrusts 16-year-old Alexander with the business of government in Macedonia. He himself moves east to conquer Perinth, allied with Athens , which is an ideal starting point to attack the Greek port of Byzantium , which is further east and through which Athens receives vital grain deliveries from the Crimea . But because Athens and Byzantium send warships with auxiliary troops to Perinth, the siege fails .
  • The increasingly anti-Macedonian mood in Greece in view of the attacks of Philip II used Athens to found a Hellenic League directed against him.
  • Rhodes is from the Achaemenid ruler Artaxerxes III. conquered and thereby Persian .
