Western Mediterranean
- Battle of Aquilonia: The Third Samnite Wars , the defeat Romans under Lucius Papirius Cursor the Samnites on the road from Campania to Taranto . Further north, the Roman general Carvilius u. a. the taking of Cominium.
- The Faliskers rise up against the Romans and join the Etruscans ; both are defeated by Carvilius.
- Conquest of the Samnite cities of Velia , Palumbinum, Herculaneum and Saepinum by the Romans.
Eastern Mediterranean
- Demetrios I Poliorketes , king of Macedonia and ruler of Athens , wins rule over Thessaly and the Boeotians. At the instigation of the Spartan king Cleonymus , the Thebans rise up against Demetrius, who, however, succeeds in suppressing the rebellion.
- Demetrios I founded Demetrias, named after him, near today's Volos .

- At the time of the Warring States , the Chinese state of Qin won the Battle of Yique over a coalition of Wei and Han .

- The consul Lucius Papirius Cursor dedicates the temple dedicated to Quirinus in Rome . The first sundial in Rome is also erected here.
- around 293 BC Chr .: plague epidemic in Rome, which then allows the settlement of Greek doctors in the city. A temple to the god of healing Aesculapius is built on the Tiber Island .
