Eastern Mediterranean
- Demetrios I Poliorketes , King of Macedonia , subdues the rebellious Thebes .
- Lysimachus , King of Thrace , is captured by the Getic King Dromichaetes during a campaign on the Danube . He treats him courteously and releases him soon afterwards so as not to endanger the relations between the two kingdoms. Dromichaetes then marries a daughter of Lysimachus.
- Antigonus II. Gonatas , son and general of Demetrios I, tries in vain to use the captivity of Lysimachus for a Macedonian incursion into Thrace; he is thrown back.
Western Mediterranean
- The Romans appoint Appius Claudius Caecus as dictator . The Samnites , although practically defeated militarily, continue to offer long-lasting resistance in the mountains.

- The Colossus of Rhodes is completed (presumed; construction started in 304 BC)
