Eastern Mediterranean
- Pyrrhus I of Epirus returns to his homeland after being held hostage in Egypt and ascends the throne again. Ptolemy I gives him the Egyptian princess Berenike as his wife.
- April / May - After the death of the king of Macedonia , Kassander , there were protracted battles for the succession; initially the son Philip rules, but dies after four months. Then Philip's brothers Alexander V and Antipater I inherit the throne together.
- Zipoites I of Bithynia accepts the title of king.
Western Mediterranean
- In the Third Samnite War , the Romans succeeded in two important victories against the Samnites : at Trifernum under Quintus Fabius Maximus Rullianus and at Maleventum under Publius Decius Mus . After the land of the Samnites is systematically devastated by the Romans, the Samnites try to carry the war north, where they join forces with the Etruscans .
- Agathocles of Syracuse suffers a defeat at Ethae against the Bruttians and retreats to Sicily .
