Alexander V (Macedonia)

Alexander V († 294 BC ) was the third son of the former Macedonian king Kassander and Thessalonike , a sister of Alexander the great . In the years 297–294 BC He was together with his brother Antipater I. King of Macedonia .

However, since Antipater was striving for sole rule, this Alexander set in 294 BC. After which Alexander Pyrrhos I of Epirus and Demetrios I called Poliorketes for help. For the help he wanted, Pyrrhus asked the coast of Macedonia, Acarnania, and Amphilochia . Pyrrhus now forced Antipater to cede the government to Alexander, for which he received the promised reward. After leaving Macedonia, Demetrios arrived there. Alexander feared that he would dispute his throne and so decided to kill Demetrios during a banquet. However, his caution prevented this. The next day, Alexander escorted Demetrios to Larisa in Thessaly . At a meal together, Demetrios had Alexander killed and he took Macedonia.
