Western Mediterranean
- Hasdrubal becomes the commander of Carthage in Hispania following the death of Hamilkar Barkas .
- After a Roman embassy sent to the court of the Illyrian Queen Teuta in Skutra to protest against the attacks against Greek and Roman merchants is imprisoned and an envoy is murdered there, Rome declares war on Queen Teuta ( First Illyrian War ) .
Eastern Mediterranean
- Teuta conquered the island of Corfu , where they installed Demetrios of Pharos as governor. However, he changes sides and hands the island over to the Roman troops under Gnaeus Fulvius and Aulus Postumius. These subsequently conquer Epidamnos and the island of Issa , Teuta has to retreat to Rhizon (today: Risan ) in the Bay of Kotor.
