Western Mediterranean
- Celtic War in Northern Italy : Celtic warriors from the Boier and Insubrian tribe invade Etruria, ruled by Rome , and march to Clevsin / Clusium . Venetians , Samnites , Etruscans and Cenomanians ally with Rome against the Celts. The Celts succeed in a victory at Faesulae , but when the main Roman armed forces approach they move away again, but are caught in the battle of Telamon and defeated by the Romans. Allegedly 40,000 Celts are killed; the Roman consul Atilius is also killed in battle. Subsequently, the Roman army under Aemilius advanced on the Boier area on the Po .
