Eastern Mediterranean
- From Corfu , the Roman troops advance northward in the First Illyrian War against the positions held by the Illyrian Queen Teuta . Apollonia , Dyrrhachium and Lissos are taken by the Romans, the Illyrian capital Skutra is besieged. Rome finally defeats Teuta, trapped in their capital, Skutra . The latter must grant independence to the Greek cities it presses and to the neighboring tribes of the Ardieans and Parthines, so that their rule is limited to the area around Skutras. Rome takes over the protectorate over the coast between Lissos and Phoenike and is admitted by the Greeks to the Isthmian Games and the Eleusinian Mysteries. The city of Epidamnum is renamed Dyrrhachium by the Romans.
- At the instigation of Aratos of Sikyon, the Macedonian garrison withdraws from Athens and Piraeus . At the same time, the Achaean League under the strategist Aristomachus of Argos takes action against Sparta .
