Ziaelas

Ziaelas ( Greek  Ζιαήλας ) was a king of Bithynia from approx. 254 to 228 BC. Chr.

Ziaelas was a son of Nicomedes I and Ditizele. After Nicomedes died, his second wife, Etazeta, became ruler in place of their underage sons. The adult Ziaelas, who was excluded from the throne, fled to Armenia beforehand and sought asylum at the court of King Samos. After the death of his father, he sought to quickly regain his rights to the throne by force and returned with the help of some Galatians . Although Etazeta through the neighboring cities and Antigonus III. Doson was supported, Ziaelas was able to quickly conquer part and then all of Bithynia, forcing Etazeta and her sons around 254 BC. To flee to Antigonus in Macedonia .

Ziaelas was murdered by the Galatian Celts and so his son Prusias followed him in 228 BC. After. Like his father and grandfather, Ziaelas also founded a city and named it Ziela. Their location, however, is unknown.
