Wang Lang

Wang Lang ( 王朗  /  王朗 , Wáng Lǎng ; * 152 ; † 228 ) was a Chinese official of the Han Dynasty and at the time of the Three Kingdoms .

He came from the Donghai region (東海 郡) and began his career under Tao Qian in Xuzhou Province. For a letter he wrote to the Emperor Han Lingdi , he was highly praised and made governor (太守) of Guiji (會稽). When Sun attacked Ce Guiji, Wang Lang was severely beaten and had to give up his city. He initially wanted to retire from politics, but Cao Cao called him into his service. Wang Lang served the Wei empire and received high positions under Emperor Cao Pi , which he held until his death.

His son Wang Su (王肅) was the father of the empress mother Wang Yuanji , the mother of Sima Yan .
