August Wilhelm Bullrich

August Wilhelm Bullrich (born June 2, 1802 in Potsdam , † July 3, 1859 in Berlin ) was a German pharmacist and entrepreneur .

Life

In 1827 he discovered that sodium hydrogen carbonate is an excellent therapeutic agent for heartburn and stomach ailments, and marketed his invention as "Bullrich's Universal Cleansing Salt" or Bullrich Salt for short .

He left no children. His niece continued to run his company before it came into the possession of the Spielhagen family in 1920 and was taken over by delta pronatura in 1982. Bullrich salt is one of the oldest German branded products today.
