Awards

Others

He was criticized on May 18, 1996 (34th matchday) in the 1-1 draw against 1. FC Kaiserslautern . Both clubs played against relegation. Instead of, as is the practice of fair play , a ball that was deliberately played out of bounds due to an injured player by the opponent, then returned to the opposing team with the following throw-in (Kaiserslautern played the ball out of bounds for treatment of an injured opposing player), Sérgio made an advance on the goal of Kaiserslautern. This led to a goal and secured Bayer Leverkusen to remain in the top German division, while the opposing team had to relegate.

Paulo Sérgio promoted the book “ Kraft zum Leben ”.
