Rudolf Anger

Rudolf Anger (born June 2, 1806 in Dresden , † October 10, 1866 in Elster ) was a German Protestant theologian and philosopher .

Life

Rudolf Anger was born on June 2, 1806 in Dresden, the son of a school principal. He received his first training from his father, attended a grammar school in Dresden from 1821 to 1824 and then moved to Leipzig University to study theology and philosophy for five years. In 1829 he became a doctor of philosophy doctorate . He received a theological license the following year.

From the summer semester 1830 he taught at the University of Leipzig, which eventually earned his doctorate him 1845 theology doctor to him on 26 May of the following year as extraordinary theology and philosophy professor adjust. He was promoted to full professor of theology in 1856. In addition, he was dean of the theological faculty in 1861/1862 .

In 1863 Anger almost went blind, but continued to teach. Three years later, on October 10th, he died at the age of 60 in Bad Elster . The loss to his students and friends was so severe that they established a foundation Angerstiftung .
