Divine Heresy ( English: Divine Heresy ) is an American death metal band from Los Angeles . The band combines elements of death metal , alternative metal and metalcore in their music .
Career
The band was founded in 2006 by the former Fear Factory - and Brujeria - and current Asesino guitarist Dino Cazares . For the drums , Cazares recruited Tim Yeung, who previously played with Vital Remains and Hate Eternal . In early 2007, the former Vext singer Tommy Vext joined the band. In February and March 2007, Divine Heresy recorded their first album Bleed the Fifth. Since the band didn't have a bass player, Dino Cazares took over this part. The album was produced by the former machine head and soulfly guitarist Logan Mader.
After finishing the recordings the band signed a contract with Century Media for the North American area and with Roadrunner Records for the rest of the world. Shortly before the album was released, the band signed Joe Payne (ex- Nile ), a permanent bassist. The debut album Bleed the Fifth was released on August 24, 2007. In November and December 2007 a North American tour with Chimaira , Kataklysm and Terror is planned.
Tommy Vext left the band in 2008 after an argument with Dino Cazares. The new singer is now Travis Neal. The second studio album, Bringer of Plagues , was released on July 28, 2009 in the US via Century Media and worldwide via Roadrunner Records.
