Andy LaRocque , real name Anders Allhage (born November 29, 1962 in Gothenburg , Sweden ) is a Swedish musician , composer and music producer .

Life

Andy LaRocque has been lead guitarist , composer and synth player for the heavy metal band King Diamond since 1985 . Along with King, LaRocque is the only member of the band who is part of the original King Diamond line-up. He also played for bands like Death or IllWill. He also appeared as a guest guitarist for bands such as At the Gates (guest solo on “Cold”), Dimmu Borgir (guest solo on “Devil's Path”), Falconer and Evergrey .

Andy LaRocque also works as a music producer. In 1995 he founded his own music studio "Los Angered Recordings" in Angered , Sweden . In 2007 he changed the name and location of his studio to "Sonic Train Studios" in Varberg , Sweden. In the studio he produced more than 80 albums with musicians and bands from all over the world such as Hammerfall (Sweden), Lord Belial (Sweden), Ascension ( Scotland ), Mistweaver ( Spain ), Novembre ( Italy ) and Bellfast ( Japan ).

Style and Influences

Andy LaRocque's guitar playing is strongly influenced by neoclassical metal . The use of tremolo , arpeggios and exotic scales such as aeolian or harmonic minor is characteristic of his playing . His guitar solos are characterized by harmonic and melodic passages. Andy LaRocque described his style as "modern Michael Schenker " and his tone as "crying". He mentions Randy Rhoads , Michael Schenker, Steve Vai and Ronnie Le Tekro (TNT) as inspirations . His favorite King Diamond album is "Abigail".

On stage he names theatrical rock bands such as Alice Cooper , Kiss or Black Sabbath as influences.

Andy LaRocque uses a violet-Caparison Horus Custom guitar and various BC RICH and Dean guitars with Seymour Duncan - pickups .

On stage, LaRocque uses various amplifiers from Marshall Amplification , Line 6 , Randall and 4x12 speakers with vintage 30 speakers.
