Vision of Disorder is an American metal-heavy hardcore punk band.

Band history

The band was founded in 1992 in Long Island by the two guitarists Matt Baumbach and Mike Kennedy. There were also singer Tim Williams, bassist Mike Fleischmann and drummer Brendon Cohen. Fleischmann got out shortly afterwards, but Vision of Disorder continued to play without a bassist. A while later, Mike Fleischmann picked up the strings again and the band continued to play without a record deal . But Vision of Disorder gathered a considerable fan base even without a contract, and so they played as the opening act for well-known bands such as Shelter and Type O Negative .

It was at one such concert that hardcore icon Ray Cappo became aware of them. But the band thought that was pure politeness and didn't go into it any further. Only after repeated requests did the band send some demos. Ray Cappo promptly took the band on to his recently founded label Supersoul (which had a distribution deal with Roadrunner Records ). In 1996 their first album was released, called Vision of Disorder . The debut album turned out to be a success, and thanks to the positive feedback from the audience, the group got a place in the billing of the Ozzfest .

In 1998 Vision of Disorder released their new album Imprint . The album was recorded within 19 days in collaboration with Dave Sardy , who has worked with well-known greats like Slayer and Helmet . With this album Visions of Disorder moved away from pure hardcore.

After Imprint it was quiet around the band for a long time, as it was also the last album on Roadrunner. In 1999 For the Bleeders came out , but in addition to some new tracks, it mainly offered old demo material. It wasn't until 2001 that they released a new studio album called From Bliss to Devastation . Again the band experimented around, which is why the album came along slower, but more haunting and contained more melody; the album was influenced by bands like Alice in Chains .

After From Bliss to Devastation had proven to be a commercial failure, the band initially took a break in 2002, which developed into a split. In 2006 the band got back together for a few gigs.
