36 Crazyfists (also known under the symbol 36CF ) is a metalcore - band from Anchorage , Alaska , the band's name from the Jackie Chan film The 36 Crazy Fists dates from the 1977th

history

Inspired by bands like Metallica , Deftones and Only Living Witness , singer Brock Lindow, guitarist Ryan Brownell, bassist JD Stuart and drummer Thomas Noonan founded the band 36 Crazyfists in 1994. The idea for the name came from the film The 36 Crazy Fists from 1977. The first demo was made in 1995 under the name Boss Buckle , whereupon the band moved to Portland in 1996 to increase their popularity, with bassist JD Stuart at one shortly beforehand Was fatally in a car accident and had to be replaced by Mick Whitney. In 1997 the first EP Suffer Tree followed, followed by another demo called In the Skin . In the same year they released their first LP In the Skin on their own. Two years later the band released their third demo called Demo '99 .

Through friends in the band Skinlab , they came into contact with the Roadrunner Records label , with which they received a record deal in 2000. Your debut album Bitterness the Star was released in 2002 and became a US tour together with Chimaira , Candiria and God Forbid and a European tour with Killswitch Engage and Five Pointe O promoted.

In March 2004 they released the second album A Snow Capped Romance again on Roadrunner. A tour with Killswitch Engage , From Autumn to Ashes and Bury Your Dead followed at the end of the year . Shortly after the tour, the band began working on the next album, which was released in 2006 under the name Rest Inside the Flames . Both Killswitch Engage singer Howard Jones , Tom Gomes, who also played for Killswitch Engage until 2003, and Jonah Jenkins from the band Miltown worked on the album . In addition, the band achieved a position in the British charts for the first time in the band's history.

In July 2007 the band announced that they had moved from Roadrunner Records to Ferret Music , where they released the album The Tide and Its Takers on May 27, 2008 . After appearances at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park , there were two more club shows with Emil Bulls in Cologne and Kempten (Allgäu) . Bass player Mick Whitney then left the band to be more there for his wife and children. For live performances, the remaining three members brought their old guitar technician Brett “Buzzard” Makowski into the band, whom they confirmed as a permanent member shortly afterwards.

On July 23, 2010 their sixth album Collisions and Castaways was released again under Roadrunner Records, which was produced by Andy Sneap . In contrast to its predecessors, the album was much heavier and also contained more melodic elements. The lyrics, written by front man Brock Lindow, were mostly about personal events from the singer's life.

In February 2012, drummer and founding member Thomas Noonan left the band and was replaced by Kyle Baltus shortly afterwards. That same year Mick Whitney came back after a four-year hiatus.

In February 2015, Time and Trauma was released on Spinefarm Records, the band's seventh studio album. In terms of content, the focus of the album is on the cancer death of singer Brock Lindow's mother.
