Five Pointe O was an American rap and nu-metal band from Joliet , Illinois that was formed in 1999 and disbanded in 2003.

history

The band was formed in 1999 by 15-year-old Daniel Struble and 16-year-old Sharon Grzelinski. A short time later, Five Pointe O consisted of keyboardist Casey Mejia, singer Daniel Struble, guitarist Eric Wood, bassist Sean Pavey, guitarist Sharon Grzelinski and drummer Tony Starcevich. In the same year the band released a self-titled EP and the EP The Other Side . In 2001 the group signed a contract with Roadrunner Records , which released their debut album in the spring of the following year. The album was called Untitled and was produced by Colin Richardson . A month before the release, the band had held a tour with Lamb of God and Mushroomhead . In 2002 the band went on tour with Mastodon and Avenged Sevenfold , before a European tour with 36 Crazyfists and Killswitch Engage followed in October . In December 2002 Daniel Struble and Sharon Grzelinski split from the cast. The band initially stated that the two members would not continue, but the band split up shortly afterwards.

style

Greg Prato from Allmusic assigned the band to Rap Metal. According to Christian Graf in Nu Metal und Crossover Lexikon , the band plays keyboard metal in the style of Faith No More . The debut album is dramaturgically sophisticated Nu Metal. According to Matthias Weckmann from Metal Hammer , the band plays on Untitled Nu Metal in the style of Rage Against the Machine and Faith No More, although the band sounds more extensive. The band use death metal in their songs - grunts , which, however, sound unmotivated. In addition to Death Metal, the group also process Doom Metal influences, which works with Slipknot , but here it seems artificial.
