Eric Peterson (born May 14, 1964 in Alameda , California ) is an American guitarist . He became known for his activity as one of the main songwriters and the only constant member of the band Testament . He also founded his black metal band Dragonlord in 2001 . In addition to the guitar, he also took on the vocals.

Career

Peterson was born in Alameda but grew up in Lafayette . His father's parents were immigrants from Sweden and his mother was Mexican , who was descended from the Apache Indians . His influences were bands like Black Sabbath , Led Zeppelin and Creedence Clearwater Revival , later the Scorpions , Iron Maiden , Angel Witch and Judas Priest . In the band Testament, founded in 1983 and initially known as Legacy, Peterson was originally just the rhythm guitarist, while Alex Skolnick took over the lead guitar. Still, Peterson was consistently one of the band's most important songwriters, especially after Skolnick left. In the meantime, Peterson also takes on many lead parts, e.g. B. on The Formation of Damnation .

In 2001, Peterson u. a. with Steve DiGiorgio (Testament) Dragonlord and released two albums with the band. In 2005, Peterson also played on the band Old Man's Child's Vermin album .
