Imagika was an American power and thrash metal band from San Carlos , California that was formed in 1993 and split in 2010. The band name is borrowed from a novel by Clive Barker .
history
The band was formed in 1993 by guitarist Steven Rice, drummer Henry Moreno and singer David Michael. After a demo in 1994, bassist Michael Dargis joined the cast, so that the recording of a debut album began in 1995. Her self-titled debut album was released in 1995 on her own label, Headless Corpse Records. A little later the album was re-released via ABS Records . Then the group reached a contract with Radiation Records , through which the next album Worship was distributed. Then the band switched to Massacre Records and went on tour through Germany in 1999 with Grave Digger and Iron Savior . The following year bassist Michael Dargis left the band. On the next album And So It Burns the Grave Digger members Chris Boltendahl (vocals) and Uwe Lulis (electric guitar) could be heard as guest musicians. The album was later re-released under the name So It Burns through World War III Records , including three bonus songs from Worship . The slightly changed name came about accidentally due to a graphic error on the album cover. The band then recorded two songs for World War III Records, one of which was included on a tribute album: Metallica's Four Horsemen on the one hand, and Black Sabbath's Never Say Die on the other . Then the band split from Massacre Records and bassist Elena Repetto-Luciano joined the band. The band planned a project album called Fallen God for 2002, but it was never released. In 2004 the album Devils on Both Sides was recorded. Meanwhile, singer David Michael left the band and was replaced by Norman Skinner. The album was released the following year. The next album, My Bloodied Wings, followed in 2006 , which was produced by King Diamond guitarist Andy LaRocque . The subsequent album Feast for the Hated (2008) was also produced by LaRocque at Sonic Train Studios . After the recordings, Jim Pengram joined the line-up as the new bass player. By May 2009, the band held a US tour that included 15 performances. In the fall of 2009, the group went back to the Fang and Fossil Studios to record the next album, with guitarist Steve Rice as a producer. The album was then mixed by Andy LaRocque and released in the spring of 2010 on Metalville Records under the name Portrait of a Hanged Man . Meanwhile, drummer Henry Moreno left the band and was replaced by Wayne De Vecchi. After a US tour in the summer of 2010, Norman Skinner left the band, so the group broke up.
style
The band plays a mixture of Thrash and Power Metal, with some elements from Melodic Death Metal being used. Vocally the band is very reminiscent of The Haunted .
