Patric Kjellberg (born June 17, 1969 in Trelleborg ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League from 1985 to 2003 for the Montréal Canadiens , Nashville Predators and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, among others .
Career
Patric Kjellberg began his career as a hockey player at Falu IF , for whom he was active from 1985 to 1988 in the second-rate Division 1. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1988 in the fourth round as a total of 83 players by the Montreal Canadiens . Initially, however, the attacker stayed in his Swedish homeland, where AIK Solna played in the Elitserien for the next four years before he was ordered to North America by the Montreal Canadiens for the 1992/93 season . In his rookie year , the left-handed shooter received two penalty minutes in seven games in the National Hockey League for the team from Québec . However, he spent most of the season with their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Fredericton Canadiens .
In the summer of 1993 Kjellberg returned to Sweden, where he received a contract with HV71 , with which he became Swedish champions for the first and only time in his career in the 1994/95 season . The 1994 Olympic champion then spent three years at their league rivals from the Elitserien Djurgårdens IF , where he was the top scorer in the Elitserien main round with 30 goals in the 1997/98 season .
