In Europe he played for HC Sparta Prague , Kärpät Oulu , Timrå IK and his home club HC Kladno, among others .

Career

Petr Tenkrát in the jersey of the Timrå IK

Tenkrát began his career in his hometown Kladno and played there until 1999 in the Czech extra league . During the NHL Entry Draft in 1999 he was selected 230th place in the eighth round by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , but decided to move to Finland to play there at HPK Hämeenlinna . During the same season he moved to Ilves Tampere , but finally went to North America in the summer of 2000 to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

However, Tenkrát was also repeatedly used by the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks in the American Hockey League , so that he came to 46 appearances in the NHL and 25 appearances in the AHL. He was also used three times in the AHL play-offs .

In the 2001/02 season Tenkrát moved from the Mighty Ducks to the Nashville Predators and went on for another 58 games in the NHL on the ice. Tenkrát's time in North America was followed by a stay in Finland, this time with the Oulun Kärpät , which was interrupted in 2003/04 by an engagement in the Russian Super League . He played at Kärpät until the 2005/06 season . With this team he won the Finnish championship in 2004 and 2005 . For the seasons 2006/07 and 2007/08 Tenkrát signed a contract with the Swiss national league club SC Bern . However, the contract included an NHL release clause, which Tenkrát made use of in June 2006. Instead of the National League A, he followed the call to the NHL to play in the 2006/07 season with the Boston Bruins . The Bruins had to swap the North American rights to Tenkrát from the Toronto Maple Leafs for a draft right in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft . The Maple Leafs had obtained the rights to Tenkrát through the 2003 NHL Waiver Draft .

After an NHL year in Boston, Tenkrát initially returned to his hometown club, but moved to Sweden for Timrå IK after 13 match days, as he signed a tax-free six-month contract. Until 2010 he was under contract in Sweden, where he spent the 2009/10 season at Skellefteå AIK . In October 2010 he returned to Kärpät Oulu. In May 2011 he was signed by HC Sparta Prague from the Czech Extraliga and played so convincingly that he was nominated for the World Cup in both years.

Before the 2013/14 season, his contract with Sparta expired and Tenkrát signed a three-year contract with his home club, HC Kladno. This was followed by relegation to the first division in 2014 .

At the beginning of the 2015/16 season, Tenkrát completed a try-out over four games at HC Kometa Brno , but received no contract. Due to the ongoing contract with Kladno, he was loaned to HC Slovan Ústí nad Labem in mid-October 2015 . For the following season he returned to the squad of knights from Kladno.

In 2017 he ended his career and became a fitness trainer.

International

Petr Tenkrát has played in three ice hockey world championships and one inline hockey world championship for the Czech Republic: for the Czech national ice hockey team , he took part in the 1997 U20 world championship and the men's ice hockey world championship in 2006 and 2007 . In 2008 he was appointed to the squad of the Czech national inline hockey team and took part with this at the IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship in Bratislava in 2008 , where it finished fifth.

Further participation in world championships followed in 2012 and 2013 , where he won another bronze medal at the 2012 tournament.
