Jacek Płachta (born May 18, 1969 in Chorzów ) is a former German - Polish ice hockey player and current coach . His son Matthias Plachta is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Plachta began his career at the Polish club GKS Katowice , from which he moved in 1990 to the then Bundesliga club EHC Freiburg , for whom he was on the ice in the top German division until 1993. In 1993 the winger moved to EV Landshut , for whom he was active until 1998 and thus also after the establishment of the German Ice Hockey League in 1994. The Pole with German citizenship then moved to Revierlöwen Oberhausen for two game years , with whom he did not, however, get beyond the last two places in the DEL table.
Although Płachta then played in the 2000/01 season for the SERC Wild Wings and 2001/02 for the Nürnberg Ice Tigers , he then moved to the Hamburg Freezers for five years . In the 2006/07 season, however, the attacker reached its sporting nadir and completed only 28 games for the "Freezers" whereupon he for subsequent season in the 2. Bundesliga at the Kassel Huskies moved with whom he is still in the first season again rose to the German ice hockey league . Following the 2008/09 season , in which he was only three times for Kassel in the DEL on the ice, he ended his active career.
In the 2010/11 season Płachta was head coach at the Polish second division club GKS Katowice . For the 2011/12 season he moved to the first division club GKS Tychy . In 2012 he was initially assistant coach of the Polish national team , two years later he took over the post of head coach and held this position until the end of the 2016/17 season.
From October 2017 he was assistant coach at the Eispiraten Crimmitschau before he became the head coach of the Hamburg top division club Crocodiles Hamburg for the 2018/19 season .
International
For Poland , Płachta took part in the junior division exclusively in the U18 European Junior Championship in 1987 . In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the B World Championships in 1990 , 1994 , 1997 , 2000 , 2001 , 2003 , 2005 and 2007 as well as at the A World Championships in 2002 .
