Daniel Rydmark (born February 23, 1970 in Västerås ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who played for Färjestad BK , Malmö Redhawks and VIK Västerås HK in the Elitserien from 1985 to 2005 .

Career

Daniel Rydmark began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at VIK Västerås HK , for whose professional team he made his second-rate Division 1 debut in the 1985/86 season . He was then committed by the reigning Swedish champions Färjestad BK , with whom he himself won the national championship in the 1987/88 season. During his time in Karlstad , the attacker was also selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1989 in the sixth round as a total of 123rd player by the Los Angeles Kings , for whom he never played. Instead, he moved to Malmö IF before the 1990/91 season . With the exception of the 1995/96 season, in which he played eleven games for the Phoenix Roadrunners from the International Hockey League , he ran the following eight years exclusively for Malmö and became champions with them in 1992 and 1994.

In the summer of 1998 Rydmark got a contract with his ex-club VIK Västerås HK, which had in the meantime risen to the Elitserien. When he had to withdraw from the top Swedish league in 2000 due to the bankruptcy of the licensed player division, the 1994 Olympic champion returned to Malmö. For Malmö he was on the ice for another four years before ending his career at the age of 35 following the 2004/05 season, in which he was under contract with third division clubs HC Vita Hästen and Borås HC .

International

For Sweden Rydmark took part in the U20 Junior World Championships in 1989 and 1990 and the 1992 World Cup. He was also in Sweden's squad at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville and 1994 in Lillehammer .
