Jonas Höglund (born August 29, 1972 in Hammarö ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who played for the Calgary Flames , Montréal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League from 1988 to 2010 . His brother Henric is also a hockey player.

Career

Höglund started his career at Färjestad BK , where he was active between 1988 and 1996. After he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1992 in the tenth round at 222nd position by the Calgary Flames and in the 1995/96 season with 32 goals had been the top scorer of the Elitserien , he moved to North America in the summer of 1996. Between 1996 and 2003, the Swede played in the National Hockey League for the Calgary Flames, Montréal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs .

He then moved to the Swiss National League A , where he spent a season at HC Davos before moving back to Sweden to his home club. Höglund spent another four years at Färjestad, but moved back to Switzerland for HC Lugano during the 2007/08 season . At the end of the season, the striker decided to go back to Sweden. First he started the 2008/09 season with the Malmö Redhawks in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan , but was obliged by the Elitserien club Södertälje SK during the season . Since the beginning of the 2009/10 season he has been under contract with Skåre BK, a club in Sweden's third division.

Höglund ended his career in January 2010.

International

In 1997 , 2003 , 2004 and 2005 Höglund competed for the Swedish national team at the World Cup . With the exception of 2005, he won the silver medal after losing to the Canadian team.
