Joshua Hay (born December 2, 1988 ) is a New Zealand ice hockey player who has been playing again for Botany Swarm in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League since 2017 .
Career
Joshua Hay played since the beginning of his career as an ice hockey player first in the team of Botany Swarm (until 2007: South Auckland Swarm) in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League . With this team from Auckland he was New Zealand champion in 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011 and runner-up in 2006. Despite losing the final, he was declared Most Valuable Player of the 2006 Final. With the four title wins in which Hay was involved, Botany Swarn became New Zealand's record champions. In 2013 he moved to Europe, where he first played at HF Linköping in the Swedish Division 3 , the fifth division of the Scandinavian country. In 2014 he moved to the Solway Sharks in the National Ice Hockey League , the third highest English division. Since 2017 he has been playing for his home club Botany Swarm again.
International
In the junior division, Hay played with the New Zealand selection at the U-18 World Championships in 2005 and 2006 and the U-20 World Championships in 2005 , 2007 and 2008 , when he was the tournament's third-best goalscorer after his compatriots Chris Eaden and Michael Beaton Division III. At the U-20 World Cup in 2006 , he was in Division II on the ice. But even his two goals against Spain - they were the only ones of the New Zealand team in the entire tournament - could not prevent relegation.
For the men's national team , Hay took part in the World Championships of Division II in 2006 , 2008 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , when he was named the best player of his team, in 2013 , 2014 and 2015, and Division III in 2007 and 2009 .
