Mats Frøshaug (born July 31, 1988 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Tingsryds AIF in HockeyAllsvenskan since 2017 .
Career
Mats Frøshaug began his career as a hockey player in the youth of Sunne IK , for whose first team he made his Division 1 debut in the 2005/06 season . He then moved to the junior division of the Swedish first division club Linköpings HC , for whom he played twice in the 2007/08 season in the Elitserien . In addition, he came in this season on two missions for IK Nyköpings NH 90 in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan . Then the Norwegian was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2008 in the sixth round as a total of 161 players by the Vancouver Canucks .
The attacker began the 2008/09 season again at Linköpings HC, for which he was also on the ice in three games in the newly founded Champions Hockey League , in which he remained unpunished. He then received a contract with their league rivals Luleå HF , for which he gave a template in 14 games by the end of the season. In addition, the left-handed shooter scored eight points in seven games for Sparta Sarpsborg from the Norwegian GET-league . He spent the 2009/10 season again at Linköpings HC, for which he only played one game in the Elitserien and two for their U20 juniors, before moving to Manglerud Star Ishockey in January 2010 , where he spent the season in the Norwegian GET-ligaen finished. In this he played from 2010 to 2016 for Lørenskog IK , with whom he became Norwegian runner-up in 2012 and 2016. Elected to the GET-Ligaen All-Star-Team in 2012. In 2016 he returned to Sweden, where he first played for a year at Västerviks IK in HockeyAllsvenskan . He has been under contract with league competitor Tingsryds AIF since 2017 .
International
For Norway, Frøshaug took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championships in Division I in 2005 and in the Top Division in 2006, as well as the U20 World Championships in Division I in 2007 and 2008 .
In the senior division he was in the top division of his country at the 2008 World Cup . He was then called up to the national team again and again until 2015, but no longer used in major tournaments.
