Craig Peacock (born August 8, 1988 in Peterborough , England ) is a British ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Braehead Clan in the Elite Ice Hockey League since 2016 .

Career

Craig Peacock began his career as a hockey player with the Peterborough Phantoms , for whose professional team he made his debut as a 15-year-old in the 2003/04 season in the English Premier Ice Hockey League , the second highest division in Great Britain. After two years in North America, where he played for the Florida Junior Blades and the Richmond Hill Rams in junior leagues, he returned to his home club in 2007, with whom he played the main round as well as the playoffs and the cup competition of the English Premier Ice Hockey League in 2009 won. He was also the top scorer among the British players in the league and was elected to the league's second all-star team. In the meantime he was loaned to the EIHL club Basingstoke Bison , for which he played three games. After this success he moved to the Belfast Giants . With the team from the Northern Irish capital he was able to win the Elite Ice Hockey League , the highest British league, straight away with a 3-2 final win after penalty shoot-out against the Cardiff Devils . Peacock himself was voted Best Young British Player of the Year . In 2012 he was British champion by winning the main round in the EIHL with the Giants, but was eliminated in the playoffs in the semi-finals against the final opponent from Wales 3: 4 after a penalty shoot-out. The following season he was voted best British striker. Thereupon the Danish first division club Frederikshavn White Hawks signed him in 2013 , but where he could not prevail and so returned to Belfast in September 2013. With the giants, he was able to win the EIHL main round and thus the British championship title again in 2014, but the playoff final was lost to the Sheffield Steelers 2: 3 after extra time. In 2015 he was the UK's best goalscorer in the EIHL. Since 2016 he has also played for the Scottish Braehead Clan in the EIHL.

International

For Great Britain Peacock took part in the junior division in the U18 World Championship Division II 2006 and the U20 World Championship Division I 2008 .

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2010 , 2012 , 2013 , 2015 , 2016 and 2017 . In addition, Peacock took part for Great Britain in the Olympic qualification for the Games in Sochi 2014 . He scored in the decisive 2-1 win against Japan , which enabled the British to move into the second qualifying round, to 1-0. In the second round, however, the team lost to Latvia (2: 6), France (2: 4) and Kazakhstan (0: 6). He was also on the ice again for the British in qualifying for the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang .
